Speech-Language Pathologists identify, evaluate, and treat a wide range of speech, language, voice, resonance, cognitive, and swallowing deficits/disorders resulting from a variety of diagnoses; some of which include: Parkinson’s disease, stroke, head injury, dementia, voice disorders, dysphagia, and stuttering.
Therapy can target the improvement of expressive language skills, receptive language skills, speech fluency, speech intelligibility, cognitive deficits (e.g., memory, attention, executive functioning), voice deficits, fluency deficits, and swallowing deficits. The Speech-Language Pathologist works closely with the resident, their family, nursing staff, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, and any other members of the team in order to create a comprehensive patient-centered plan.

- Language therapy to improve communication skills after a stroke or other neurological incident.
- Cognitive-Linguistic therapy which focuses on memory, attention, and executive functioning.
- Voice therapy to improve vocal quality, breath support, and to prevent vocal pathologies.

- Evaluation and training of augmentative communication, such as communication boards, memory books, or speech generating devices.
- Dysphagia (swallowing) therapy including restorative exercises, compensatory strategies, and diet modifications.
- Mobile Dysphagia Diagnostics completing mobile FEES (Flexible Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing) studies in-house.
